We have a thriving competitive rowing membership with most age categories represented in summer and winter regattas, and the World Pilot Gig Championships that take place in the Isles of Scilly each year.
While gig racing is a competitive sport, many rowers prefer the social side of rowing and our club makes sure to balance the needs of both competitive and social rowers.
There’s something for everyone in our club, representative of the Cornish spirit in this great sport – Onan hag Oll (One and All).
Founded
Founded in 2005 following the floods that devastated our harbour in 2004. Our first race gig is named Torrent after the floods that brought her.
Membership
Nearly 70 members which includes a mix of competitive and social rowers. We run regular taster sessions through the year for new rowers.
Gig Boats
We have three wooden pilot gigs Torrent, Pentargon and our oldest, Rival. We also have 3 plastic gigs. Jan Rogers, Porthkragen and Pasty and are currently fundraising for a fourth.
