During the winter months we train at Roadford Lake , or whenever sea conditions aren't on our side.
At Boscastle Harbour, we're fortunate to have the reassuring presence of the National Coastwatch keeping us safe at sea from their lookout up at the Old Coastguard Tower on Willapark.
No. Not at all. Many of our new members have never rowed before – the best way to learn is by doing.
All taster sessions are friendly and welcoming, geared towards beginners and supported by experienced rowers and coxes who will help you in your learning journey.
The most important thing is to have fun.
A good sense of humour and the right time and place to row are a great start.
Other than that, the taster session organiser will answer all your questions and you’ll pick up the rest as you go.
Wear your normal workout clothes and something to keep warm and dry (weather depending). Layers work well here.
Bear in mind you will be moving boats in and out of water so your feet will be getting wet. Wear shoes you don't mind getting wet or wellies.

Membership is set by the Board of Trustees, varies for age groups and there are some concessions available. But the standard fee is £15 per month and can be paid monthly or yearly.
We aim to keep this fee as low as possible while balancing the ongoing needs of the club. Boats, gear, year-round maintenance and insurance are expensive, and the bigger our club becomes the more assets we have to maintain and eventually replace.
Your rowing membership fee helps to meet these costs and gives us options like being able to purchase new equipment for the benefit of club members.
We offer three, free rowing sessions fully covered by our insurance before we kindly ask you to become a member if you’d like to continue rowing with the club.
