"What an experience"
Some club evenings are just a little bit special. 🌙🌊
On the 12th August 2026, Jan Rogers, Torrent and Rival took to the sea off Boscastle to watch the solar eclipse.
We’ll have plenty more photos to share, but we couldn’t let tonight pass without marking an incredible celestial occasion — experienced from three gig boats, just off our beautiful North Cornwall coast.
All around us, people gathered on clifftops, in gardens and at viewpoints across Cornwall to look up at the same sky. There’s something rather wonderful about an event that makes us all stop what we’re doing for a while and simply watch together.
And with the sea so closely tied to the moon, it felt especially fitting to experience it from the water.
Our youngest passenger, Elowyn, even took the ropes and helped with the coxing, and we were delighted to be joined by Richard and Tom from Cotehele — who arrived bearing quite possibly the most magnificent box of cakes ever brought aboard a gig. ❤️
Food at the Cobweb was ordered from the boats, and once all three gigs were safely packed away, we headed to the pub for a few beers, something to eat and a chance to reflect on a pretty perfect club evening on the water.
Three boats. One eclipse. A very special evening off Boscastle. 🌙
